Job Roles and Responsibilities:

• Receiving verbal and written instruction/ direction from Shop supervisor/ Chargehand & Project Manager(s) as required to understand of project details.
• Reading and interpreting technical documents, i.e. fabrication layouts/ drawings, welding procedures, test plans and inspection plans etc.
• Performing all assembly tasks and workpiece processing including, layout, marking, cutting, drilling, forming, welding, sequencing and assembly.
• Operating industrial equipment such as, bend saw, grinder (portable and stationary), forklift, press brake, ironworker, forming rolls, overhead cranes, plate shear.
• Cooperating and communicating with team members for heavy lifts and transport, timely receiving and providing verbal and visual communication (hand signals) effectively.
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliance with
• other duties within scope of the position of metal fabricator, as assigned by shop Management.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Journeyman's certificate, or having Red Seal certification would be considered as an asset.
Competition of college/CEGEP/vocational or equivalent technical training would add up as an asset.
Must be competent and cautious in using industrial equipment and adhere in following all safety precautions.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge and ability to read, understand and interpret fabrication drawings.
Ability to read welding symbols, determine assembly procedures and sequences, predict and control distortion in order to produce and maintain a high quality product.
, communicational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to recognize and organize materials and coordinate activities to avoid bottlenecks in manufacturing process.

Requirements

Must have a complete set of tools (i.e., squares, punches, chalk lines & hammer etc.) to perform their job duties effectively.
C.W.B Welding Certification (current) in both FCAW & SMAW would be considered as an asset.

Work Conditions

Physical ability to lift up at least weights up to 50lbs
 Off-site locations travel may be required for work.

Ability to commute/relocate

To Victoria, BC, Canada

 Must have to commute or plan to relocate before starting of work (required)

Experience:

·   Metal fabrication: 4 years (will be preferred)
